HDV

While the DV tape format was digital standard-definition recording, HDV was the high-definition version of the same format. HDV was not capable of full 1920x1080 interlaced recordings, however, and instead recorded a 1920x1440 signal, with the 1440 vertical lines being interpolated to 1080 vertical lines upon decoding.
