Field

For interlaced content, a field is one-half of a frame. Field rates match the electrical hertz rate (Hz) of the consumer electronic equipment. As such, 60 fields per second are used in the United States since the US uses 60 Hz electricity, while Europe uses 50 fields per second since it uses 50 Hz electricity. Voltage (110, 220, 440) has no bearing on field rates.
