The number of fields in a 29.97 analog NTSC broadcast or video recording. Each frame in an interlaced recording or broadcast consists of two fields. Many digital cameras, while offering progressive recording—at 24, 25, or 30 frames per second—refer to their interlaced output at 59.94 rather than 29.97, yet both signal designations mean the same thing.
