5.1 surround

A surround sound system consisting of five speakers: one center speaker, two front (left and right) speakers, and two rear (left and right) speakers. In addiiton, a subwoofer is used (the .1 designation). Various multiplexing and encoding techniques are used, including those by Dolby, DTS, SRS and others.
