A+E Networks, which owns such properties as the A+E, History, and Lifetime cable channels, has inked an agreement with video advertising software management company FreeWheel. Based in Silicon Valley, FreeWheel works with enterprise media companies.

Under the arrangement, A+E will use FreeWheel's Monetization Rights Management platform to manage advertising on its mobile properties. The result is that A+E will be able to manage ad campaigns across its mobile offerings, as well as on apps branded by distribution partners. The network will gain granular control to manage ads over specific commercial breaks.

"FreeWheel has the unrivaled experience with global television and entertainment companies necessary to scale our advertising and revenue opportunities accordingly as we expand our digital footprint even further," Lee Barstow, vice president of digital ad operations and solutions for A+E Networks.

FreeWheel was founded in 2007. Investors include Steamboat Ventures, Turner Broadcasting System, Battery Ventures, and Foundation Capital.
