TF1 Group Streams Multi-Screen Video Services with Solutions from Elemental

Elemental Live powers live events and catch-up content creation; delivers premium content to an extensive multi-platform audience

Portland, OR (02 Nov 2011)

Elemental Technologies, a leading provider of video processing solutions that enable multi-screen content delivery, today announced that TF1 Group, the largest private television network in Europe, is using Elemental™ Live to support delivery of live and catch-up content for the multi-platform MYTF1 product. MYTF1 is accessible through mobile applications, IPTV services, and multiple websites.

TF1 is currently harnessing the full power of Elemental Live to create all the content delivered through MYTF1 portals. Most recently, TF1 deployed Elemental Live for live event capture and delivery of complete Rugby World Cup matches to its online viewing audience in France. The Rugby World Cup began on September 9, 2011 in New Zealand and ran for seven weeks.

To deliver Rugby World Cup matches, TF1 formatted an incoming SDI feed into separate outputs for six different service providers across France. Each service provider required outputs with unique settings for optimal playback through end users’ set-top boxes. Elemental Live was able to prepare all the IPTV content to meet the streaming requirements of each ISP from a single platform.

“In our evaluation, Eurosport and e-TF1 immediately recognized the speed and performance advantage available with solutions from Elemental,” said Philippe Petitpont, project manager for the TF1 Group. “With the deployment of Elemental Live in TF1 SA, Elemental is now a major player for TF1 Group’s streaming and catch-up services.”

Initially attracted by the density available with the Elemental Live system and its ability to create multiple streams simultaneously, TFI took advantage of the system’s flexibility for the Rugby World Cup, making use of the REST API to start and stop encoding of the event during commercial breaks. This enabled the company to create and deliver tightly packaged files for each service provider, which in turn made content available for viewers to watch from start to finish via their set-top box.

“Elemental is proud to partner with the TF1 Group in creating solutions for timely delivery of premium content to consumers in France,” said John Nemeth Elemental Director, EMEA. “TF1 is committed to providing subscribers across a wide range of platforms with premium content and we are pleased to play a crucial role in achieving this goal.”
