KIT digital Partners with LiveU to Deliver Wireless HD Live Broadcasting Across Multiple Devices

KIT digital announced it is partnering with LiveU, a provider of video-over-cellular solutions to further expand its portfolio and deliver HD-quality live video streaming for it’s clients.

Las Vega, Nevada(13 Apr 2011)

KIT digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: KITD), a premium video technology and services provider for multi-screen and socially-enabled video deliveryhas partnered with LiveU, a pioneer in video-over-cellular solutions, to provide KIT digital’s clients with HD-quality live video streaming capabilities from a battery-operated wireless backpack.

The solution, KIT LivePro Unwired, uses wireless backpack technology provided by LiveU to allow content producers to take advantage of the existing and growing wireless 3G/4G and Wi-Fi infrastructure to report events as they happen in real time, without having to rely on limited landline infrastructure and complex, time-intensive setup. KIT LivePro Unwired also allows producers to leverage the unique cross-platform distribution, engagement and monetization features of the KIT Platform.

“As we’ve seen with a number of recent news events, the cycle of reporting is getting smaller and the public is thirsty for footage from places that would be impossible or costly to access through traditional broadcast means,” said KIT digital’s senior vice president partnerships, Laura Kaatz. “KIT LivePro Unwired gives content producers an edge over the competition by making it easy and cost effective to broadcast high definition live video to audiences wherever they are. Also, any content created on the KIT Platform can seamlessly be made available on-demand to multiple screens, significantly increasing the value and life of any event.”

Individual camera operators and video journalists can arrive on location and immediately start live streaming content via the KIT Platform without having to worry about the cost and complexity of satellite hook-ups. KIT LivePro Unwired also provides a highly cost-effective solution for the pure online media community, enabling live, professional-quality video streaming from anywhere. All they need is the KIT LivePro Unwired backpack unit and a video camera. Video can be live-streamed directly to web, mobile and connected TV audiences.

"With LiveU, broadcasters and online media professionals are set free from the limitations of traditional uplink technologies such as satellite, which offer practically no flexibility, yet come at very steep rates,” said LiveU’s vice president of business and corporate development, Ariel Galinsky. “KIT clearly understand the convergence from traditional to next generation IP broadcasting and KIT LivePro Unwired will be a great addition to its already robust solution set that enables content producers to deliver socially-enabled content anywhere, any time and on any device.”

KIT Platform, KIT digital’s cloud-based platform solutions, enable traditional broadcasters to revamp their existing legacy satellite-based uplink and delivery models and quickly integrate internet protocol (IP) with their traditional broadcast distribution systems to deliver multi-screen social video experiences to audiences wherever they are.

The company’s next generation solutions offer broadcasters reliability, a sharp decrease in cost, open up a more efficient, centralized way to manage pay-per-view, advertising and subscription-based revenue models as well as multi-screen and socially-enabled video delivery. These new delivery mechanisms are helping broadcasters provide geo-targeted and socio-demographic content to increase viewership and in turn drive advertising revenues.

KIT digital and LiveU are demonstrating their respective solutions at the NAB 2011 Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 11-14. You can visit the KIT digital team at Booth #N6729 in the North Hall and the LiveU team at Booth #SU8808 in the South Hall.
