Tutorial: How to Add a Motion Texture to a Logo in Adobe After Effects

In this tutorial, I’ll demonstrate how to add a moving texture to a logo using Adobe After Effects Creative Cloud 2015. Often as video editors, we’re tasked with adding motion and life to the logos of our clients we are working with. This tutorial is going to show you a cool approach to inspire some ideas for your next project.
We’ll start with having After Effects open. As you can see in Figure 1 (below), I’ve imported the illustrated version of our company logo into our project. I suggest always asking your client for the .ai or .eps version of their logo so that you’re working with a vector file. This way, you won't have to worry about losing resolution when you scale the logo.

Adding a Solid Layer
With our logo added to the composition, I’m going to add a solid layer by choosing Layer > New > Solid. The Solid Settings dialog box opens (Figure 2, below).

In this dialog box, make sure that the Make Comp Size option is enabled (Figure 3, below), and then press OK.
