Stageit Delivers 15 Live-Performance Streams a Day to Connect Artists With Their Fans

Stageit is a web-based platform created for artists by artists that empowers more than 25,000 acts to deliver and monetize interactive live experiences directly from their laptop

Professional Studio, Affordable Cost

The studio set up now consists of several prosumer HDMI cameras connected to Blackmagic Design Mini Converters HDMI to SDI, which are connected to ATEM Television Studio. ATEM Television Studio also receives inputs from a Behringer audio A/V converter and a studio mix coming from Avid Pro Tools.

I control the production switcher via a MacBook Pro running ATEM Software Control Panel, which saves on the cost and space of a dedicated hardware panel. ATEM Television Studio’s output is fed into an Intensity Extreme, which connects to an additional MacBook Pro running coding software.

ATEM’s built-in multiview is output from the production switcher to a large LCD screen, which allows me to view up to 10 channels of video on a single monitor. The ATEM’s multiview saves on space and costs because we don’t have to invest in additional monitors. Multiview includes tally and allows us to customize labels and set safe area markers on the preview display. At the artist’s request, I can also run a program out to a monitor near them, so they can see what the shots look like, as well as read chats and questions from fans.

The ATEM Television Studio is so easy to use that if need be, we can have one person running the entire performance. For our setup, the combination of HDMI and SDI inputs is really helpful. We need that flexibility because sometimes we’re working with consumer level products and sometimes we have more professional-level equipment.

We also rely on the flexibility of being able to use a wireless keyboard and mouse, which makes the workflow much easier. And since we are short on space, the ATEM’s compact size and software-based control make it extremely convenient. Sometimes we are on-the-go and stream shows from different venues, such as a concert or rehearsal, or even from an artist’s house. Carrying around a big switcher wouldn't be feasible. But the ATEM’s compact size means we can easily pack it in a car or fly with it without having to bring a huge crew and setup with us, which saves on travel costs.
