NDI Now Supported in Latest Zoom Rooms Release

Latest version of Zoom Rooms for Windows software includes support for NDI to help prepare workspaces for the hybrid workforce

NDI®, a Vizrt Group brand, is happy to announce that NDI is now supported in Zoom Rooms. The move follows the adoption of NDI by Zoom for MacOS and Microsoft Teams in 2020, and Skype in 2018. Zoom Rooms brings HD video collaboration into any space - in the office, in the classroom, or at home - and enables in-person and remote participants to interact in real time.

NDI® technology is a solution to connect media devices over a network – rather than physically. It is the industry standard solution for producing live content for streaming, with NDI 5 as the latest iteration. Producers can now use NDI for Zoom Rooms as a live video source to create more stories, better.

NDI for Zoom Rooms gives content creators an advanced set of creative, production options. Individual video streams, from either Meeting or Webinar, can be used by video producers to connect to other NDI devices allowing them to create custom visual experiences.

Live video streams from the mobile phones of reporters in the field can be used by news stations; a Zoom Rooms presentation can be pulled live into a conference broadcast; virtual festivals, award ceremonies or celebrations can pull in multiple guests and presenters from around the world for near-zero latency audio and video streams.

“The pace at which global video communication platforms have grown to support the unique needs of their customers over the past year is impressive,” says Michael Namatinia, President and GM of NDIZoom is the latest video communications platform to embrace NDI, allowing their customers to do more with their video streams, and opens up a whole new world of video creation for them.”

“Innovation is one of our key areas, and our investments here at Zoom are completely customer-centric. We have received feedback from producers that NDI technology is key to live production and something that they have wanted for a while,” says Brendan Ittelson, Chief Technology Officer at Zoom“With our support for NDI we wanted to make sure that we delivered something to our customers that was a full package and gives our customers an amazing experience and works exactly the way they’d expect it to.”

Zoom Rooms is compatible with the recently released NDI 5— a true revolution in audio/video storytelling technology. NDI 5 turns the whole world into your studio, allowing, for the first time in history, producers to connect to any device, in any location anywhere in the world- and transmit live video to wherever you are.
