Marquis Collaborates With NewTek on 'Edit While Capture'

Medway, Marquis' workflow automation solution, which enables seamless media and metadata integration with leading broadcast content applications, now supports NewTek's TriCaster multi-camera video production system to provide broadcasters and content creators with a cost effective and efficient ingest to edit workflow

Marquis Broadcast, experts in content workflows and media integration software, specialise in moving media and metadata. The company has announced a collaboration with NewTek, a worldwide leader in integrated multi-camera video production systems, to enable automated ingest to Avid. Medway, Marquis’ workflow automation solution, which enables seamless media and metadata integration with leading broadcast content applications, now supports NewTek’s TriCaster multi-camera video production system to provide broadcasters and content creators with a cost effective and efficient ingest to edit workflow.

“The key benefit of the integration is that content can now be transferred automatically from TriCaster to Avid via Medway while the source is still in record,” confirms Chris Steele, managing director, Marquis Broadcast. “To achieve this, Medway has been expanded to create an additional “Server” type for the TriCaster that uses the NewTek API to browse for clips and to manage the transfer of media, creating the Avid essence as MXF OP atoms. The workflow will support both Interplay PAM and non-Interplay based Avid systems. Interplay PAM systems allow Medway to automatically check-in clips at the start of the transfer to allow the support for ‘Edit while Capture’ on the growing file.”

Andrew Cross, president and CTO for NewTek explains: “Everybody has a story. With TriCaster, any production, keynote presentation, webcast, online training and sporting event can all look just like network television. Our collaboration with Marquis now speeds-up and smooths the process of content transfer between ingest and edit, enabling users to focus on creating even more compelling presentations and programming.”

Steele concludes: “By providing transfer and format conversion workflows for video, audio, data and metadata, Medway allows for the exchange of media and metadata between broadcast systems in a fast, transparent and cost effective way, facilitating the operation of complete file based workflows in mixed format environments. We enable our clients to take advantage of more efficient workflows and concentrate on the elements of creativity within their day-to-day activity, while we focus on solving common technology challenges.”
