JVC and Sportzcast Team Up to Deliver Real-Time Scoreboard Data to JVC GY-HM200SP 4K Camcorder

Designed for single-camera coverage of local sports, the camera produces a real-time score overlay on recorded or streamed video output without the use of an external CG or production switcher

JVC Professional Video, a division of JVCKENWOOD USA Corporation, today announced a partnership with Sportzcast, a sports automation company based in Winter Springs, Fla., to deliver real-time scoreboard data to the new GY-HM200SP 4KCAM streaming camcorder. Designed for single-camera coverage of local sports, the camera produces a real-time score overlay on recorded or streamed video output without the use of an external CG or production switcher.

While GY-HM200SP camera operators can input score information directly from a mobile device that is wirelessly connected to the camera, Sportzcast eliminates the need to update scoreboard information manually. Using its Scorebot hardware, which is integrated with the scoreboard at the venue, Sportzcast receives the score data, processes it, and transfers it in real time directly to the JVC GY-HM200SP. JVC (Booth C4314) and Sportzcast (Booth SL2425) will demonstrate the GY-HM200SP with Sportzcast integration during the 2016 NAB Show, which runs April 18-21 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Sportzcast’s Mike Connell said the GY-HM200SP is “one of the most unique video cameras out there” because of its embedded scoreboard. Beyond live streaming, he said the camera is useful for basic video coaching, because it can provide clock, score, and other information for easy reference during game review.

“Our innovative GY-HM200SP is changing the game for high schools and colleges that only have the resources to produce single-camera coverage of their sporting events,” said Ian Scott, vice president, Professional Video Division, JVCKENWOOD USA Corp. “It allows one person to shoot, insert graphics, record, and stream the game live directly from the camera. Now, Sportzcast improves the workflow even more by feeding scoreboard information directly to the camera, so the shooter can concentrate on delivering the best images.”

Beyond its unique built-in graphics overlay, the GY-HM200SP includes a 12x zoom lens with optical image stabilizer and 24x dynamic zoom in HD mode. The camera records 4K Ultra HD, 4:2:2 Full HD (50 Mbps), and SD footage, and includes dual XLR audio inputs, integrated handle with hot shoe and dedicated microphone mount, and SDI and HDMI video outputs. The GY-HM200SP also features an integrated HD streaming engine with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity, and allows live HD transmission directly to the ProHD Broadcaster server powered by Zixi and other hardware decoders, as well as content delivery networks (CDNs) like Ustream, StreamVu, and YouTube.
