JVC ProHD Camera Line--Including Streaming-Ready GY-HM650--Featured at CCW 2013

When equipped with a Verizon 4G LTE modem, which connects directly to the camera via USB, or when used with a Verizon 4G Mobile Hotspot, the GY-HM650 mobile news camera can transmit footage to a broadcast facility in real time - no add-on boxes or backpacks required

JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., will display its ProHD line of studio and ENG cameras and accessories, as well as its professional monitors and Blu-ray recorders, at Content & Communications World (Booth 1117), which runs Nov. 13-14, 2013, at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

“CCW is a great show because it gives us the opportunity to showcase our award-winning products to a variety of video professionals, from national networks to independent filmmakers,” said Dave Walton, assistant vice president of marketing and communications, JVC Professional Products. “We’re looking forward to demonstrating the new live HD transmission functionality of our GY-HM650 camera, which is already improving news coverage and saving money for broadcasters across the country.”

When equipped with a Verizon 4G LTE modem, which connects directly to the camera via USB, or when used with a Verizon 4G Mobile Hotspot, the GY-HM650 mobile news camera can transmit footage to a broadcast facility in real time – no add-on boxes or backpacks required. The camera leverages JVC’s exclusive dual codec design, as well as built-in FTP and Wi-Fi connectivity, to allow live transmission or file transfers in the background as shooters continue to record full HD files to SDHC or SDXC memory cards. The GY-HM650 supports live video streaming of 1080i, 720p, and lower Web-friendly resolutions at various bit rates to adapt to network conditions.

The lightweight camera’s new functionality complements the GY-HM650’s built-in features. Its Fujinon wide angle 23x zoom lens includes manual focus, servo zoom, and iris rings, plus three ND filters and a removable hood. Audio features include a built-in stereo microphone to capture natural sound on location, two XLR inputs with phantom power, shotgun mic holder, headphone jack, and separate input for a wireless mic receiver. The GY-HM650 records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats, including native XDCAM EX™ (.MP4), Final Cut Pro™ (.MOV), and AVCHD, as well as .MXF files that support rich descriptive metadata optimized for asset management.

Among its field, studio, and public display monitor choices, JVC will showcase its new PS-840UD Professional Series ProVérité 4K 84-inch LCD monitor. It offers native screen resolution of 3840x2160 – four times the resolution of full HD – as well as 60p input and display capability for professional sports and other high-speed content. Housed in a slim bezel with a 178-degree viewing angle, the edge-lit LED illuminated PS-840UD is built for rigorous commercial use. Additional features include an IPS LCD panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth, audio I/O for the built-in 15W speaker, and table base.

For professional duplication and disc authoring, JVC will highlight its SR-HD2500US combo deck. With its built-in Blu-ray recorder and 500 GB hard drive, the unit provides easy Blu-ray and DVD duplication and disc authoring without a PC. It also includes an HD/SD-SDI input, which allows it to connect to most professional production switchers and provide direct recording of a live signal to Blu-ray disc. USB and i.Link (IEEE-1394) ports, SDHC card slot, and composite and S-Video inputs provide compatibility with a wide variety of digital sources and legacy devices. Plus, a time code mode allows producers to create a “window burn” for high-quality dailies and client review copies.
