Epiphan Device Support Now Available in Telestream Wirecast

Now Wirecast users can capture, record, and broadcast high resolution and high frame rate video signals from virtually any display source including laptop displays, tablet displays, cameras, industrial displays and medical equipment

Telestream®, the leading provider of digital media tools and workflow solutions, today announced the integration of Epiphan VGA, DVI, HDMI frame grabber devices with Wirecast 5. Now Wirecast users can capture, record, and broadcast high resolution and high frame rate video signals from virtually any display source including laptop displays, tablet displays, cameras, industrial displays and medical equipment.

“It’s very exciting to see Epiphan frame grabber products work seamlessly withWirecast,” says Barb DeHart, VP desktop products at Telestream. “Using Wirecast with Epiphan DVI2USB3.0 and DVI2PCIe frame grabbers will dramatically increase the number and type of sources of video signals that our customers include as part of their Wirecast webcasts.”

Northwestern University has been successfully using Epiphan and Wirecast products for many years as part of the university’s growing requirement to capture, record and stream lectures that are given by their professors; to both the onsite and remote student population. The joint solution allows the university to capture a lecturers’ VGA, DVI, HDMI displays, cameras, microscopes and other video sources without installing any software on the video source being streamed by Wirecast. This provides a very guest-friendly environment for visiting professors. They are able to present directly from their own laptops as though they were simply connecting to a room projector, when in fact their content is being captured and streamed. There is no need for them to load any software or make any changes to their laptop, which makes the process much more simple, timely and secure.

“Wirecast’s support of Epiphan devices is an important step forward for users of our respective products. This seamless integration allows customers to use Wirecast for live streaming new types of display sources by using their choice of Epiphan frame grabber products to record, capture and broadcast their event or production”, said David Kirk, VP of Product Management, Epiphan Systems.
