In 2007, Netflix had a humble streaming service that consisted of an Internet Explorer plugin and a couple of thousand titles. Today, there are millions of active Netflix devices including smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and connected TV’s. In addition, Netflix' streaming library has grown to tens of thousands of titles including Emmy award winning originals. This session looks at the Netflix encoding service, looking at the key engineering decisions around video encoding.
