VisualOn and Discretix Offer SecurePlayer 2.0 for iOS and Android

Just in time for NAB, VisualOn and Discretix are announcing the release of SecurePlayer 2.0, which provides publishers with iOS and Android playback protected with Microsoft PlayReady DRM (digital rights management). The player works with MPEG-DASH, HLS, and Smooth Streaming content.

SecurePlayer 2.0 combines VisualOn's OnStream MediaPlayer+ with Discretix's DRM security.

"There are more screens, platforms, operating systems, and streaming protocols than ever before on the market," says Deepak Das, VisualOn's senior director of marketing. "By joining forces with Discretix, we're enabling businesses to overcome this fragmentation. Our cross platform solution is efficient, high-quality, and secure."

VisualOn wants publishers to see SecurePlayer 2.0 as the more flexible option, saying that it can integrate with whatever systems customers are already using.

"Content providers and Hollywood studios mandate a DRM solution in order to allow consumers to access to their premium content. We're offering a new player that provides both a high quality audio and visual experience for consumers, with the security the industry needs," Das says. Talking about Microsoft PlayReady DRM, Das says "It's the most widely adopted scheme for over-the-top and video-on-demand services around the world."

Anyone wanting a closer look should visit booth SU17109 at the NAB conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a demo.
