Unit.Net AG, Europe's leading provider of streaming media, announces a cooperative venture with TIME Eureka at CeBIT 2000

From March 2000 onward, Unit.Net AG, Europe's leading provider of streaming media for broadcasting of live events over the Internet and in intranets will be cooperating with EUREKA Global Teleconferencing Services GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the TIME Communications Services AG, Bad Homburg.

Cooperative venture will permit teleconferences in the Internet - live and on demand

Thanks to the geographical coverage of the two partners' service offerings, Unit.Net will be in a strong position to open up new customer segments within Europe. The collaboration between Unit.Net AG and TIME Eureka will combine the benefits of traditional teleconferencing with the strengths and omnipresence of the Internet.

This new development will make Internet broadcasting considerably simpler for companies and organizations. It will be possible to broadcast video conferences and audio conferences directly over the Internet for a minimum of technical outlay. The service is faster, more flexible and more straightforward than previous forms of Internet broadcasting and opens up a completely new dimension in the field of traditional teleconferencing. It also includes live broadcasts and replays on demand; slides will be displayed on the recipient's screen in synchronized form.

Unit.Net AG is contributing to the new cooperative venture a streaming media product which has been specially developed for telephone conferences and which makes these Internet conferences simpler and more efficient.

The efficient and cost-effective implementation of live and on-demand broadcasts on the Internet and intranets by Unit.Net AG - for example, analysts' conferences, press conferences and sales training - enables a large number of participants to avail themselves of the offered audio-visual presentations simultaneously. And no technical know-how is required in order to use Unit.Net's services. The user only needs Internet access - anywhere in the world - in order to take part in Unit.Net's conference broadcast solution.

All the capabilities involved in live events and conferences in the Internet/intranets are offered by Unit.Net in the form of a service package. A Web browser with streaming media software (downloadable from the Internet free of charge) provides all participants with direct access to broadcast information. While the conference is broadcast live to all conferees, it is also possible to view, discuss and agree on presentations, speeches, etc., "live" - and all on the user's own PC for little or no technical outlay.

Speaking at CeBIT 2000, Andrea Cappellari, CEO of the Unit.Net AG, summed up the situation as follows: "TIME Eureka and Unit.Net form a powerful, customer-responsive team which will now be making available to customers, in concentrated form, its common strengths and the immense experience which it has acquired in the spheres of both teleconferencing and Internet broadcasting. These two sectors complement each other to the benefit of the customer, who in turn looks upon the security and flexible implementation of the customer's Internet broadcasting projects as a crucial factor for competitive edge in the quest for personnel, shareholders, analysts, and clients."
