MP3.com to Offer Audio Hosting Service

MP3.com announced that its Audio Hosting Service will target businesses needing powerful, yet affordable audio delivery. MP3.com's decision to offer audio hosting is the latest in its efforts to establish itself as a Music Service Provider (MSP). MP3.com is also offering premium artists services, and business and enterprise services, including pumping music into stores.

MP3.com hopes to make its Audio Hosting Services attractive by offering a wide range of audio options and reporting, online administration, storage, bandwidth.

"We've made large investments in building our infrastructure to become a leader in music delivery. With our new Audio Hosting Services, others can take advantage of our expertise and infrastructure to service their own Net audio needs at prices which may save them substantially over existing options," said Michael Robertson, chairman and chief executive officer of MP3.com.

For the first quarter ending March 31, 2001, MP3.com indicated that its first quarter revenue had improved by 24 percent this year as compared to last year, with MP3.com earning $21.8 million in the first quarter this year and $17.5 million in the first quarter 2000. Nonetheless, the company is still facing financial difficulties due to its continuing legal troubles.
