Entera Names New Vice President of Engineering

Content delivery company Entera (http://www.entera.com) said it named Venkat Prasad as Vice President of Engineering.

Prasad, formerly director of software engineering at Wan Access Products, a division of 3Com Corporation, was responsible for the development of Enterprise routers, ATM and Voice overIP technology.

"Venkat's proven ability to manage development of Internet-basedtechnology products will be key to positioning Entera as a leader in themulti-billion dollar content delivery infrastructure arena," said Steve West,CEO and President of Entera. "In addition, his expertise in managingdevelopment of innovative technology-based solutions to customers will beinstrumental as Entera continues to gain strength within the streaming mediamarket."

Entera makes broadband content caches and serverreplication solutions. They allow content providers to deliver contentto customers faster.

Recently, Entera announced QuickTime 4 streaming media servers forWindows 98, NT, Linux, and Solaris SPARC platforms.

"For the Internet to reach its potential as a truly global platform forcommunications, there must be an economical transition from narrowband tobroadband," said West. "Entera's vision and market leadership in thesetechnologies are well-established. Recently Entera announced a second round of financing of $18 million led by Spectrum EquityInvestors, ComVentures, and Crescendo Ventures.
