Pre-Flight Drone Training: Streaming Media East Preview

Cameras and drones are a combination that we find in the media just about everywhere we turn these days. There are few things as exciting as exploring the world of low-altitude, radio-controlled flight and unrestricted three-dimensional movement with a camera attached to your aircraft.

Are you interested in aerial video, but maybe aren't quite sure exactly how to get started? Are you wondering which drone is right for you, what camera you should use with it, and how much it’s all going to cost?

These are all key considerations, but there are several more important questions that many would-be RC pilots and aerial videographers tend to bypass on the way to the gear.

  • Where do you learn what it takes to operate efficiently and safely?
  • What are the rules?
  • Is it legal?

These are some of the topics that I'll be covering in my all-day aerial video workshop at Streaming Media University on May 11, during the Streaming Media East conference in New York City. I'm excited to be able to share insight from 40-plus years of experience operating radio-controlled aircraft and my best practices as an aerial cinematographer.

Regardless of the aerial platform you choose, it will be one of the most sophisticated tools in your video arsenal. It’s important to get started on the right foot. Together, we’ll discover exactly what’s required to avoid the costly errors and mistakes of those who came before you that chose not to seek guidance. I look forward to meeting you in New York City and helping you get your aerial adventures off the ground.
