Zample Launches Cloud-Based Media Recognition Service to Power the Next Generation of Targeted Advertising

Zample raises $2M, introduces recognition technology that detects content and advertising in live TV audio and image media and provides contextual matching as a service.

Sunnyvale, CA (24 Feb 2014)

Zample (http://zample.com/) today announced a new and innovative technology that powers apps with a cloud-based media recognition service. The service is designed to automatically identify brands in audio from live TV, and from apps featuring image media feeds like Twitter, to enable synched advertising experiences. Zample's innovative technology provides an effective and dynamic new way for networks to measure and monetize its audiences. Along with the introduction of its new service, zample announced $2M in venture funding from a network of private investors located in Silicon Valley.

“Yesterday, advertisers relied on targeting based on what site you hit, or maybe an image tag, or some demographic profile as a best guess,” said Zample CMO Shawn Patrick. “Today we are announcing a service that we think will change everything, by detecting what is present in media and mapping that to opportunity, as a service.”

Fabrizio Capobianco, CEO of TOK.tv Inc., has been using Zample’s audio SDK technology in his 4-star social app for iOS, TOK Baseball, to better understand how synched advertising could affect ad performance and the user experience, “We put a lot of effort into creating a fantastic user experience for baseball fans that we didn’t want to ruin with typical banner ads. We wanted only ads to show that had context, and only when detected, and zample delivered. We saw amazing results, with 13% click through rates on synched ads.”

The Zample service also delivers daily analytics providing an increased understanding of brand engagement at the intersection of mobile, media, and advertising.

Highlights of the new service include:

  1. Free audio SDK for iOS and Android developers
  2. Automatic cloud detection service across 100+ live TV channels fingerprinting all national ads, TV shows, and movies
  3. Free image SDK for mobile and web developers
  4. Daily media recognition analytics for measuring audience and content consumption
  5. Access to emerging monetization options through the Zample network

“We believe the real promise of content recognition is about to be realized,” said Patrick. “Users don’t want to be offered things that don’t make any sense to them, and advertisers want to reach an audience that is receptive to their message. Zample is the solution.”
