Yekra Launches First Do-It-Yourself Custom Portable Movie Theater, Partners With the Dove Foundation for Family-Friendly Titles

Yekra's Technology Empowers Brands, Media Publishers and Filmmakers to Curate Custom Digital Movie Theaters on the Yekra Affiliate Networks

Los Angeles, CA(28 Aug 2014)

Yekra (www.Yekra.com) -- the most versatile and seamless digital film distribution platform for publishers, filmmakers and distributors announces the launch of the first self-service, custom digital movie theater of its kind. The Yekra Theater platform allows any site, social media profile or digital property to host a VOD movie theater experience with the publisher’s choice of hundreds of premier titles, specialized by genre and curated especially for that publisher’s audience.

Yekra’s technology allows anyone to instantly create and host a customized theater in the genre and style of their choice. Among the A-list films available at launch are Dark Knight Trilogy, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Goodfellas, The Great Gatsby, Man of Steel, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and much, much more. A wide selection of specialty documentaries, original creations and other content is also available, with more to come as the platform grows.

Beginning today, Yekra, in partnership with The Dove Foundation, is offering a collection of family-friendly titles including recent hits such as Happy Feet and Where The Wild Things Are, and timeless favorites such as The NeverEnding Story, through the all-new DOVE Theater currently available at www.dove.org. Titles are available for streaming and download (UltraViolet), with an accompanying in-theater store that offers physical merchandise like DVDs, Blu-rays and product bundles.

The Dove Theater is being offered as one of Yekra’s new collection of theaters, which cover a wide range of themes including Conscious, Classics, Inspirational, Environment, Health & Wellness, Horror, Sports, Socio-Political, and Summer Hits. Yekras genre theaters are culled from their growing library of independent and studio films alike, allowing content to find audiences based on interest, regardless of advertising budget.

"Yekra is a complete media and entertainment revolution, and with the rollout of the Dove Theater, our family and faith-based audiences will have access to the content that they're looking for, while the Yekra user experience enhances the Dove brand,” said Dick Rolfe, Dove Foundation CEO. “Yekra's model of decentralizing distribution allows Dove’s affiliate partners to maintain their audiences' time, trust, and values. We are excited to have Yekra as our VOD provider for the Dove faith and family brand.”

“One of the film industry’s biggest problems in the digital market is discovery, and we’ve made it our mission from day one to help filmmakers and studios connect their films to people where they already are, based on their interests” said Yekra CEO Lee Waterworth. “The cutting edge technology of the Yekra Theater is a major step in our company’s evolution, leading the way to what will hopefully be thousands, and ultimately millions of new points of curated distribution for digital content globally.”

Adding a Yekra Theater to a brand’s website is as simple as using a short embed code, after which site viewers can browse, watch trailers for, purchase, and stream featured films in-page at their leisure. Theater hosts generally receive between a 10-25% share of each sale. Sites interested in hosting their own movie theater can get early access via Yekra’s website and request theaters based on their viewer demographic.

Beyond allowing audiences to directly buy, stream, and download films from partner sites, the Yekra Theater provides a range of additional customizable options for brands and VIP partners. These options include custom content curation, SVOD and AVOD capabilities (where brands own their own content rights), personalized branding to match a site’s look and feel, and loyalty or reward program integrations like product redemption (a customer purchases a product and receives a redemption code for a film or exchanges loyalty points for a film), “gift with purchase” (a film redemption code is included on a purchase receipt that the customer later redeems online), or, Call to Action (a customer receives a redemption code after completing a survey or participating in some other activity).

About Yekra

Yekra (www.yekra.com) is a revolutionary digital distribution and marketing engine for films that’s rethinking the way we connect content with audience.  We work with studios, distributors, and independent filmmakers alike to expand the reach and impact of any film by opening up new channels and pathways to audiences worldwide. We believe in good films – from independent gems and niche documentaries to major studio favorites – and we believe in getting them seen. With our traveling technology and targeted audience-building tools, we’re decentralizing the old distribution model. We place films front and center with interested audiences via the sites they trust and frequent. Yekra was founded as the nexus for millions of viewers and promoters rallying behind the cerebral documentary Thrive: What On Earth Will ItTake? in 2011 by Lee and Sonya Waterworth.
