TalkPoint and Child Mind Institute Join Forces for Speak Up for Kids, a Month-Long Webcasting Initiative to Promote Children's Mental Health This May

Mental Health Leaders, Over 75 Partner Organizations, and Parents Across America Join in Effort to Fight Stigma and Barriers to Care

New York, NY(30 Apr 2013)

TalkPoint, the industry leader in global communications technology, specializing in browser-based audio and video webcasting, and the Child Mind Institute, dedicated to transforming mental health care for children everywhere, are teaming up for Speak Up for Kids, a month-long public education campaign to promote children’s mental health and eliminate barriers to care.

The centerpiece of Speak Up for Kids is a series of 16 webcasts that tackle the big issues facing families today. In an effort to raise awareness for the campaign, TalkPoint is providing the webcasting technology for the Speak Up for Kids online events.

A broad coalition effort, Speak Up for Kids contributors include Dr. Thomas Insel (Director, National Institute of Mental Health), Dr. Nora Volkow (Director, National Institute on Drug Abuse), Congressman Patrick Kennedy (Co-founder, One Mind for Research), Sesame Workshop, the American Psychological Association, the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health and the National Association of School Psychologists.

“We’re happy to partner with the Child Mind Institute for this month-long webcasting initiative, and we look forward to 16 successful events that will help families uncover the tools to lead healthier lives,” said Nick Balletta, CEO of TalkPoint.

Beginning this month, Speak Up for Kids will be engaging the public and spreading awareness with an online children’s mental health quiz and PSAs.

Register for the webcast events at childmind.org/speakup, and follow the campaign on Twitter using @ChildMindDotOrg and #SpeakUpforKids to share thoughts, questions and support.
