TEN-TV has acquired Streampipe, a leading provider of products and services that enable organizations to broadcast live and on-demand events to a global audience using the Internet.
The Streampipe name will be retained by TEN-TV and used to brand a broad set of its service offerings, including Streampipe's existing services, according to Bruce Hanson, CEO of TEN-TV.
With the acquisition of its assets by TEN-TV, Streampipe becomes part of a stronger, well-capitalized organization. The new company will immediately offer a broader product set including live and on-demand interactive webcasting services and video asset management applications to customers and prospects of both entities.
The new Streampipe will approximately double revenues and customer accounts, making it a significant player and a clear brand leader in the enterprise streaming media category. According to Hanson, this move allows the company to boldly accelerate its business and position as the marketplace consolidates. "Significant industry consolidation is taking place in the streaming media space, with analysts estimating that only 25 percent of the companies in the category will exist in their current form within the next 24 months,'' said Hanson. "TEN-TV's acquisition of Streampipe gives us the critical mass to capitalize on and benefit from this industry consolidation.''
According to TEN-TV and Jupiter Media Metrix, corporate spending on streaming video technology to support sales, marketing, e-learning, training, communications and product launches is expected to grow to $2.9 billion by 2005. This growth has been further accelerated by cuts in companies' travel budgets and less corporate travel overall due to the softening economy.
For the last ten years, TEN-TV has been a leader in the on-demand and interactive segments of the streaming media space for corporations and enterprises. TEN-TV's core solutions include customized video portal creation, rich-media integration services, content hosting and delivery, advanced reporting tools, captioning and customized registration. The company was an early pioneer in leveraging its extensive management experience in corporate communications, education and training.
Streampipe's hallmark has been exemplary live streaming capabilities and a significant market share of the federal government video streaming business. They are specialists in providing "best-in-class'' live events that offer clients lead generation opportunities, product marketing seminars, executive communications, conferences and other events that can be delivered to anyone connected to the Internet, anywhere in the world.
"As a TEN-TV company, the new Streampipe provides a complete end-to-end solution for the enterprise in live, on-demand and video asset management,'' said Hanson. "The combination of TEN-TV's expertise with Streampipe's enterprise-class live-event and streaming technology now provides an unbeatable service to support marketing, product launches, public relations, investor relations, training and sales.''
TEN-TV will integrate the strengths of both entities, under the Streampipe name, to assure a solid foundation for growth in targeted business and government sectors. "By coming together, we're certainly bigger and better,'' said Hanson. "But we're also taking advantage of the multiplier effect that occurs when two extremely talented organizations merge, giving our customers more value, a complete streaming solution, and a qualified, identifiable return-on-investment in their Internet communications efforts.''
Founded in 1992, TEN-TV, a privately held company, headquartered in Ardsley, New York and with offices throughout the U.S, is a leading provider of video based online communications services.
