The 15-second pre-roll ad is here to stay, so let's celebrate the great ones.
That's the thinking behind The Funny 15, the latest contest from OnlineVideo.net. While OnlineVideo.net usually tells businesses of all sizes how to get their videos online and how to profit from their work, with this contest it's also celebrating great content.

Online video creators of all sizes depend on 15-second pre-roll ads to generate revenue from their work. By celebrating great 15-second pre-rolls, viewers let the ad community know what they like. Online viewers can't avoid these short ads, so they might as well see great ones.
The Funny 15 contest includes both a nomination period and a voting period. During the nomination period (September 26, 2011, to November 2, 2011) ad creators and agencies are invited to nominate the funniest 15-second pre-roll ads they've created during the previous year.
The editors of OnlineVideo.net will then choose the top 15 entries out of all the nominations, announcing the final contenders during the Streaming Media West conference in Los Angeles, on November 7th.
After the final 15 are announced, the public will take over. Online voting will take place from November 7 to November 27. Viewers will be invited to view all the ads and choose their favorites. They'll be able to vote up to three times each day.
The winner will be announced on November 28. The prize, besides bragging rights, is an Apple iPad (value $499).
"For our second contest, we wanted to do something viewers would really enjoy. There are some hilarious pre-roll ads out there, and since they're only 15 seconds long, viewing them doesn't take much time," said OnlineVideo.net editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen.
