JVC Partners With Wowza to Deliver Integration Between Streaming ProHD Camcorders, Wowza Streaming Engine

WAYNE, NJ(11 Sep 2014)

JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., today announced it has partnered with Wowza Media Systems to provide seamless integration between the Wowza Streaming Engine server software and JVC’s streaming-capable camcorders. As a result, content creators can economically transmit high quality video in real time to a secure Intranet for internal communications or to the cloud for Web distribution.

The system is ideal for streaming content for a variety of applications, including corporate and government meetings, church services, concerts, and sporting events. JVC (Stand 11.G30) and Wowza (Stand 3.B17) will both demonstrate the new workflow during IBC2014, which runs Sept. 12-16 at RAI in Amsterdam.

Each JVC GY-HM650, GY-HM850 and GY-HM890 ProHD camcorder features a built-in streaming engine along with FTP and 4G LTE connectivity, which allows live HD transmission from the camera when paired with a 4G LTE modem or hotspot. Camera operators direct the transmission to their Wowza Streaming Engine via an IP address. The cameras also include JVC’s Advanced Streaming Technology (AST) for content-aware error correction, plus a built-in processor that maximizes bandwidth to ensure reliable transmission.

“JVC is associated with the very best in video technology, and we’re pleased to partner with them to transform live event experiences,” said David Stubenvoll, CEO and co-founder of Wowza Media Systems. “The demand for live video streaming is growing and end users expect to see high-quality, real-time video, and this partnership helps deliver on those expectations.”

“Wowza is an industry leader in streaming technology, and we are pleased to announce integration between JVC cameras with streaming capabilities and the Wowza Streaming Engine server,” said Edgar Shane, JVC general manager of product engineering. “Through this partnership, content creators can bring live video to end users anywhere, on any device. This opens up new opportunities for content development, as broadcasters are able to deliver real-time video directly to their viewers.”
