Conde Nast Entertainment Names First-Ever Lead Digital Contributor; YouTube Star Kandee Johnson To Head Beauty Vertical

CNE to roll out additional lead contributors in key content verticals over the next year

NEW YORK(14 Nov 2014)

Conde Nast Entertainment (CNE) today launched an industry-first program that pairs prominent digital content creators with Conde Nast's iconic brands and CNE's award-winning video content.

The program launches with top YouTube star Kandee Johnson. Ms. Johnson will become Lead Beauty Contributor, a first-ever official contributor role within CNE.  A social media juggernaut, Ms. Johnson has millions of fans across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook in addition to her massive subscriber base on YouTube.

CNE will also work collaboratively with Ms. Johnson on digital content creation, distribution, audience development and media sales.  In the coming months, CNE will continue to announce a highly curated group of influencers to represent other key content verticals, including fashion, fitness, food, music, sports and more.

"Kandee represents a new generation of talent emerging on YouTube, and we are excited to work with her," said Dawn Ostroff, president of CNE.  "By pairing her perspective with our brands and content, our digital video business continues to be right in the sweet-spot of millennial viewers."

"Our digital contributor program represents CNE's continued belief in the power of the YouTube platform, the remarkable talent in the YouTube community, and our combined ability to reach highly coveted audiences via digital distribution, traditional television, print media and beyond," said Whitney Howard, senior vice president of business development and strategy for CNE.

Ms. Johnson will star in multiple CNE-produced digital series across several Conde Nast brand channels that will be available on YouTube, Conde Nast's digital video destination THE SCENE (www.thescene.com), Conde Nast brand sites and CNE syndication partners including AOL, Yahoo, Dailymotion, Roku and Xbox.  In addition to the CNE-produced series, Ms. Johnson will provide curated video playlists and social media support.  Earlier this year, Ms. Johnson starred in the CNE produced hit series Beauty Recovered for Glamour.  The first new programming with Ms. Johnson as part of this partnership will be announced in early 2015. Additionally, CNE will work to develop TV and film projects with Ms. Johnson.

Under the agreement, Conde Nast will become the exclusive media sales representative for Ms. Johnson's YouTube channels which represent approximately 50 million annual video views.  She will also continue to produce beauty and lifestyle content for her own YouTube channel independently of CNE.

"I'm so excited to be collaborating with an award winning media company like CNE.  And I can't wait to bring my style on beauty tips, tricks and secrets to this network.  I know our fans and followers will be as excited as I am!  It's going to be awesome," said Ms. Johnson.

A nationally-recognized professional celebrity makeup artist, Ms. Johnson has become an inspirational voice and powerful figure for millions of fans seeking authentic and extraordinary beauty content.
