Nokia announces mPlatform Advertising

Nokia has launched a mobile advertising platform, dubbed Nokia mPlatform Advertising, which will apparently support various media formats, including graphics, streamed media, video clips and multimedia.

The solution is targeted at operators and service providers who are becoming increasingly desperate to exploit potential advertising revenue from forthcoming rich mobile content.

Nokia claims that the platform will provide applications such as campaign and inventory management, targeting, ad delivery, tracking, reporting and billing for 2.5/3G handsets and PDAs, as well as the fixed internet.

The company also plans to provide operators the possibility of offering sponsored mobile services, potentially lowering airtime and service costs for the end user.

Nokia is a co-founding member of Wireless Advertising Association (WAA) that creates and defines advertising guidelines and practices for wireless platforms.
