Cidera Opens New Offices; Awarded Patent for Global Broadcasting System

Cidera (http://www.cidera.com) (the company formerly known as SkyCache) announced it opened newoffices in London and San Diego plus was awarded a U.S Patent for satellite delivery of media.

Cidera has already accumulated over 50 ISP customers in Europeand has now assigned several employees to its London office. Cidera's new San Diego office will work with content aggregators in Southern California to sell its services.

The U.S. patent, number 5,987,233, is entitled "Comprehensive globalinformation network broadcasting system and implementation thereof." It relates to Cidera's system for providing multiple ISPs with information through satellite links directly to the local ISP from a centralized location.

"From an efficiency perspective, terrestrial networks weren't designed todistribute streaming media and other large files to thousands or even millionsof people simultaneously," said Cidera CEO Doug Humphrey. "Cidera cansupplement the terrestrial networks with its patented satellite deliverysystem and can deliver high-quality content to an unlimited number of peopleat a fraction of the cost."
