Pradeep Kumar Ratnala is Director of Engineering at Rakuten Viki, where he leads engineering teams responsible for platform services, content systems, monetisation, and personalised streaming experiences. He has more than 17 years of experience designing and scaling distributed systems for consumer technology platforms.

At Rakuten Viki, Pradeep has led major initiatives in edge architecture, backend-for-frontend platforms, subscription and payment systems, and highly scalable streaming infrastructure. His recent work focuses on combining personalisation with high-performance content delivery while improving reliability, operational efficiency, and engineering velocity.

Pradeep also leads architecture and engineering-practice initiatives across the organisation, helping teams make effective technical decisions and build resilient, maintainable systems. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and is passionate about distributed systems, media technology, artificial intelligence, and developing the next generation of engineering leaders.
