Picture of Derrick FreemanDerrick Freeman earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from DePauw University. He started his career at WHIO-TV as a Video Editor and Technical Director and has over 15 years of experience in video production, 10 years of videography experience, and 10 years of experience as a non-linear editor. He has over 18 years of experience with video encoding and streaming and 11 years of webcasting experience.

Derrick was also an instructor, in the Design Department at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, for 5 years teaching Computer Basics for Mac, Digital Video, Photoshop, and Interactive Digital Theory. 

He has served as a Senior Trainer and Streaming Consultant for Freeman Compression for 13 years and has provided training and consulting to companies, individuals, and organizations through Freeman Compression. He has specializes in providing online and onsite video streaming training and consulting for clients

Derrick has provided video streaming and video encoding training to the following organizations: VA Medical Center - Palo Alto, Disney ABC Television Group (Singapore), Polycom, Apple Europe Ltd. (United Kingdom), United States Postal Service, Newegg, Queens Mary College (United Kingdom), Seattle Community Colleges, WellStar Health System, Fujitsu New Zealand (New Zealand), Mision Virtual (Dominican Republic), Axtel (Mexico), The South Carolina Legislature and Conglomo Consulting and Training (Spain) and many other organizations.

Currently, Derrick works at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, in the Center for Continuing Medical Education, and produces their CME webcast series, OSU MedNet21. He provides technical support and technical onboarding to over 25 subscribing hospitals that utilize their weekly webcast series for physicians.  In addition, Derrick recommends streaming tools, manages video encoding and develops streaming media production workflows for remote webcast recordings.  He also produces video tutorials for OSU MedNet21 viewers.
