Dr. Manny Ahmed is the Founder of OpenOrigins and a researcher at the University of Cambridge.
Manny was a pioneer and one of the first academic minds to focus on leveraging blockchain technology to address the future threat of deepfakes in an age of generative AI and synthetic content creation.
At the University of Cambridge, Manny completed a PhD in Computer Security, and his postdoctoral research in distributed computing with a focus on creating secure whistleblowing tools. He is also one of the founders of Centre for ReDecentralisation (CRDC) within the Computer Science and Technology department.
Manny is the inventor of several consensus algorithms, and holds multiple patents in Cybersecurity and Blockchain technology - all of which underpin the OpenOrigins infrastructure. His expertise spans cybersecurity, privacy enhancing technologies and content authentication. He has contributed to leading media outlets and advised government ministries on the implications of AI-generated content.
