Picture of Anne AaronAs Director of Video Algorithms at Netflix I lead a team of software engineers and research scientists responsible for video analysis, processing and encoding in the Netflix ingest and encoding pipeline. We build software in the cloud that encodes and processes video and images at scale. Our team drives innovation that enables more than 125 million Netflix members worldwide watch TV shows and movies with the best video quality possible.

At Cisco, I was engineering lead for the video codec components of FlipShare where I architected and implemented video encoding and decoding modules for improved user experience with playback and transcoding. The FlipShare desktop software was shipped with millions of Flip Video cameras.

I was one of the first employees at Dynno, an early-stage video streaming start-up, where I developed practical expertise in video streaming and peer-to-peer networking. I designed and implemented from ground up the Dyyno media processor and optimized it for a heterogeneous set of user machines.

My PhD research at Stanford University was one of the pioneering work in field of Distributed Video Coding. Journal and conference publications have been cited by thousands of research publications from academia and industry.
