TASCAM Introduces VS Series AV over IP Appliances For Commercial AV and Live Video Streaming Applications

TASCAM introduces the VS Series VS-R264 and VS-R265 AV over IP streaming encoder and decoder appliances. Designed for live video streaming in both 4K/UHD streaming (3840x2160) and HD streaming (1920x1080), the VS-R264 (HD) and VS-R265 (4K) offer simultaneous encoding, recording, streaming and decoding of multiple video streams at a low bit rate over standard networks suitable for 100Mbps or 1Gbps.
Both compact half-rack size VS Series models function as a stand-alone unit — no external computer is needed for recording or streaming.
The VS-R264 is a full HD AV over IP streaming encoder and decoder that simultaneously records, encodes, streams, and decodes video content using H.264 long GOP encoding with bit rates up to 30 megabits. The VS-R265 is a 4K/UHD AV over IP streaming encoder and decoder that simultaneously records, encodes, streams, and decodes 4K video content using High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a high-efficiency coding scheme that delivers H.264 video quality at half the bit rate.
Both the VS-R264 and VS-R265 AV over IP streaming encoder and decoder appliances fit comfortably in a wide range of HD and UHD live video streaming applications and commercial AV installations. These include corporate, healthcare, government, education and house of worship settings.
The VS-R264 addresses the growing demand in live streaming environments for an external stand-alone YouTube encoder. Both the VS-R264 and VS-R265 are equipped with balanced analog Euroblock connectors and unbalanced analog 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-stereo jacks for audio I/O. Audio can be embedded from analog sources and de-embedded to drive audio devices such as ceiling speakers, or digital audio within the HDMI I/O can be used. Installed output level configuration function and reference level switching function (up to +20dBU) allows reliable and flexible system structuring.
The VS-R264 and VS-R265 can record directly to USB connected media or SD cards via a front panel loading slot. Recorded files can easily be uploaded to an FTP server automatically for creating back-up copies or repurposing to the web.
Both units offer HDMI in/out connections for additional versatility in commercial AV installations and live video streaming environments. The HDMI input port enables streaming to the network as well as encoding to MPEG4 H.265/H.264 from the HDMI input and decoding from the network stream to the HDMI output.
The TASCAM Mac/Windows Discovery app allows multiple VS-R units connected to the network to be managed from a simple Web-browser based GUI. All configuration settings are saved within the VS-R devices so that in normal operation no computer is needed for streaming or recording.
Power is conveniently from a PoE+ compatible network switch and additionally from a TASCAM PS-P1220E external power supply (supplied separately).
