Internap Scales Out Content Delivery Network With Isilon

Leading Internet Products and Services Company Deploys Isilon Scale-Out Storage to Simplify Data Management for Content Delivery Network, Improving Service Quality and Operational Efficiency

Seattle(10 Nov 2010)

Isilon (Nasdaq: ISLN) today announced that Internap Network Services Corporation (Internap) has deployed Isilon scale-out storage to power Internap's content delivery network (CDN) services. Using Isilon's NL-Series, powered by the OneFS® operating system, Internap has consolidated its CDN storage needs onto a single, shared storage platform, simplifying data management to improve operational efficiency. With Isilon clusters in multiple data centers around the world, Internap can distribute high-bandwidth, digitally-rich content without downtime, interruption or risk of data loss, improving service quality and expanding its bandwidth to accommodate new customers.

"As our customer base has continued to grow, we found our previous storage system was too difficult to scale to manage demand effectively, so we needed a new approach," said Steven Orchard, senior vice president of operations and customer service, Internap. "Isilon consolidated our CDN on a single storage platform, simplifying management and improving operational efficiency to help ensure the highest quality of service for our customers."

Internap is a leading provider of end-to-end Internet business products and services, including management, delivery and distribution of applications and content worldwide. Prior to deploying Isilon, Internap's traditional SAN systems were a hard to scale and inefficient cluster utilizing a third party file system. Working with Isilon channel partner DST Data Products, Internap deployed multiple Isilon 72NL clusters across data centers throughout the world, consolidating its entire CDN operation onto a single, shared storage resource to minimize management and improve data access. With Isilon, Internap can scale its storage in-line with customer needs, linearly or independently scaling capacity and performance on-demand for maximum flexibility and responsiveness.

"Content delivery over the Internet is both data-intensive and time-sensitive, making responsiveness and reliability critical in meeting Service level agreements," said Sam Grocott, vice president of marketing, Isilon. "Internap's use of Isilon to simplify their CDN operations and deliver world-class customer service is not only a best practices example for online service providers, but any enterprise business that values simple, efficient data management."
