Edgeware Simplifies Video Delivery with Its Intuitively Scalable System at IBC 2012

Company’s industry-recognized products and technologies enable intuitive growth and converged video delivery for operators

Amsterdam – IBC booth 4.B71 (07 Sep 2012)

Edgeware, the technology leader in distributed video delivery, today at IBC introduces enhancements to its Distributed Video Delivery Network (D-VDN) system. Via live customer and product demos and presentations, Edgeware shows how its unique intuitively scalable system simplifies distributed video delivery and enables operators to take a converged approach.

With operators continuing to build out multiscreen networks on top of IPTV infrastructures, there is an increasing demand for an IPTV and multiscreen converged architecture. Edgeware is leading this trend demonstrating how live production systems enable operators to manage retail based video delivery networks across multiple network topologies and offer advanced services such as nPVR and multiscreen applications.

With many companies claiming to simplify multiscreen and CDN deployment, often meaning hidden restrictions and limitations, Edgeware has focused on building an architecture, management system and video server technology that are all easily understood, and can scale in a logical, pay as you grow, highly energy efficient way.  This is the difference between simplifications by restricting growth versus allowing true scalability in a logical easily understood progression.  Edgeware makes the convergence of video delivery possible with its intuitively scalable D-VDN, with its ability to deploy rapidly and also provide new revenue generating services.

For the very first time, Edgeware is presenting a live demonstration of two main elements of the D-VDN system that delivers unsurpassed Quality of Experience, as well as a wholesale CDN video delivery capability – the Convoy VDN (Video Delivery Network) management system and the Orbit 3020 video server platform:

  • The Convoy VDN software suite provides complete management of a Distributed Video Delivery Network across any network topology and incorporates the required interfaces and management functions to allow an operator to provide both retail and wholesale CDN services to content providers.
  • The Orbit 3020 video server platform offers advanced capabilities for both retail and wholesale video and TV services across an operator’s network, irrespective of topology and core network bandwidth.

Edgeware is also announcing customer deployments at the show, including Ziggo and EpicTV. In addition to the Interactive demonstrations of Edgeware’s D-VDN framework, demos of EpicTV’s live service and other select customer services will be showcased both on Edgeware’s booth 4.B71.

In addition, Convoy VDN and Orbit 3020 were both recognized by being shortlisted for industry awards that will be announced at the show, including:

  • Convoy VDN was shortlisted for the prestigious CSI Awards in the category "Best IPTV technology or service.”
  • Orbit 3020 was shortlisted for the 2012 Connected World TV Awards in the “Streaming Technology” category.
