Aerocast and Inktomi to Deliver Streaming Media to Consumers
Aerocast (www.aerocast.com), a next-generation streaming media services company, and Inktomi (
www.inktomi.com), developer of Internet infrastructure software, are teaming up. Under the agreement Inktomi will provide core distribution technology for Aerocast's broadband service infrastructure enabling on-demand delivery of rich media content to consumers.
Under terms of the agreement, Aerocast will integrate Inktomi's network cache platform and software across its last-mile broadband networks to enable delivery of streaming media to residential users.
"As Aerocast completes the build out of its global broadband edge service, it's critical that we work with industry leaders such as Inktomi to help us rapidly deploy scalable, robust technology solutions,'' said Dario Santana, president of Aerocast in a statement. "Inktomi's software platform intelligently cooperates with the Aerocast DRM solution for secure content delivery and offers the flexibility we need to deploy differentiated, value-added streaming capabilities across our network.''
Aerocast is beginning user trials with select broadband operators.
