Telestream Unveils Transcoding Solution for IPTV and Cable VOD

Article Featured Image

Responding to the growing IPTV and video-on-demand (VOD) needs of broadband and cable service providers, encoding specialist Telestream has released Vantage Transcode IPTV VOD. This extension of the Vantage line is meant to automate video preparation and fit in with IPTV and cable VOD workflows.

To accomplish this, Vantage Transcode IPTV VOD includes GPU-accelerated H.264 encoding that uses the x264 codec. It also offers user control over the Transport Stream video, audio, and metadata through Manzanita Systems technology. The inclusion of Telestream's own Lightspeed technology improves GPU-accelerated encoding speeds.

"The real challenge around encoding video for IPTV and cable VOD is how to get the highest quality at the lowest bit rate with the maximum amount of control for Transport Stream multiplexing and metadata," says Barbara DeHart, vice president of marketing at Telestream. "With our new transcoder we've accomplished all three in a way that has never been done before. The ability to do all of this with GPU acceleration truly makes Vantage the most powerful transcoder on the market."

Those interested can get a first look at Vantage Transcode IPTV VOD at TV Connected in London, March 19 to 21, and NAB in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 8 to 11.
