BurstPoint Launches Virtual Delivery Node, Cloud-Based Service

BurstPoint Networks, which provides video services for enterprise customers, launched its VCP (Video Communication Platform) Virtual Delivery Node today, providing cloud-based access. The Virtual Delivery Node includes a gateway appliance for cloud services. Thanks to a partnership with the CDN Highwinds, it also delivers on-demand video to users both inside and outside the firewall.

Both the standard BurstPoint VCP Delivery Node and the Virtual Delivery Node now offer mobile device support. That means customers can stream MP4 videos to a range of mobile devices, including Apple iOS devices.

The Virtual Delivery Node is meant as a hybrid solution combining on-premises appliance-based video management with off-premises cloud-based management. Customers can use it to delivery rich media in-house or to a larger outside audience.

Customers with existing video conferencing and digital signage systems will be able to use them in connection to the Virtual Delivery Node.

"What differentiates BurstPoint's cloud-based solution from competitor offerings is the fact that the BurstPoint VCP Virtual Delivery Node is not a standalone service. Rather, it is an extension of our existing end-to-end BurstPoint VCP solution, which allows customers to create, manage, distribute and consume video content - whether on-premise or in the cloud," says Tom Racca, president and CEO of BurstPoint Networks.
