Accordent Offers Easy Capture and Upload for Lync and SharePoint
During the pre-conference workshop day of Streaming Media West 2010, Accordent Technologies announced new features for its media management system that allow for deep integration with Microsoft technologies.
El Segundo-based Accordent creates streaming media creation and management solutions. Today's announcement unveiled new capabilities in the fourth version of its video management platform, Accordent Media Management System (AMMS). Organizations can now capture and archive rich media from the desktop via Microsoft's Lync Unified Communications Platform. They can also upload and approve Lync recordings and other user generated content to the AMMS system, then publish their library of content to Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
This deep integration with Microsoft's SharePoint and Lync technologies is an extension of the two companies' decades-long partnership.
AMMS 4.0 lets companies use the content in their Microsoft infrastructure and turn it into live and on-demand video, whether for informal Lync-based sessions, virtual meeting rooms, or CEO webcasts to global audiences. One advantage is that content creators and viewers don't have to learn a new system, but can use the tools they're already familiar with. AMMS 4.0 is part of the Accordent Enterprise Video Management platform.
"Over the next three years, video will become a commonplace content type and interaction model for most users," says David Cearley, vice president and Gartner Fellow for Gartner Research. "Integration with internal portal and Web content management, company websites, and public portals for external constituents is needed."
Deal will let Polycom grow in the unified communications space by integrating the two company's technologies.
