The Windows Media Technical Summit is the industry event where content producers, web professionals and product developers come together to learn how to create, deliver and experience the most compelling Windows Media-based content, and develop the coolest Windows Media-compatible tools and devices. Content producers in media and corporate environments will learn the latest practices for media encoding, synchronized presentations, delivering over LAN and broadband networks to both TVs and PCs, customizing the Windows Media Player and more. Software developers and OEMs will learn the latest techniques for great Windows Media-compatible tools, and mobile devices.

Two tracks and 12+ sessions over 2 days will address the following topics and audiences:

Track 1- Content Authoring:
Digital Media producers will learn the latest techniques for creating Windows Media-based audio and video for the Web and then integrating that content into Web pages. Both introductory and advanced sessions will be offered.

Track 2- Hosting, Delivery:
Webmasters and IT professionals will learn how Windows Media can be hosted and delivered over corporate, content distribution networks and broadband infrastructures.

Day 2 - Digital Rights Management
This track will focus on digital rights management in depth for content providers, service providers and device manufacturers

An Introduction to Hosting Windows Media

This session will give those new to streaming video an introduction to the basics of the entire content authoring process, from capture, and editing to encoding. This session will also present an overview of the various Windows Media codecs available for audio and video.


Find out when to serve from a Windows Media server versus a Web server, and learn how to take advantage of the Windows Media server's scalability, reliability, and network efficiency needed for delivering content.

Explore network bandwidth, content distribution, and load-balancing considerations for both Internet and broadband connections. Learn what it takes to make money by delivering personalized and broadcast advertising.

This panel session will examine potential deployment strategies for Windows Media-based caching and edge networks.

Learn about the new Windows Media Player Object model and techniques for embedding. A familiarity with XML and scripting is assumed.
