The San Jose Convention Center is where the main conference program and exhibition will take place. It is within walking distance of all the major hotels where streamingmedia.com has secured special rates on room blocks and is easily accessible from the San Jose and San Francisco International airports. The pre/post conference seminars and social events for Streaming Media West 2000 will take place at other venues but they are all within a 3-block radius of the convention center.

ONSITE CHECK-IN PROCESS
Conference check-in will take place on the street level of the San Jose Convention Center in the Arcade area on the days of the conference, from 7:00am until the end of the program each day.

All pre-registered delegates who registered before November 20, 2000 will receive their badge by postal mail, which doubles as their entry pass. Additional instructions will be provided in that mailing. If you are attending a pre-conference workshop or seminar, your badge will also reflect your attendance of the conference. If you are only attending a pre-conference seminar, your badge will automatically provide you with access to the exhibition.

CONFERENCE BADGE
As a pre-registered delegate, your badge will be mailed to you before the conference. This badge will denote what you are registered to attend and it will also have a barcode which will hold your contact details for scanning by exhibitors should you wish to receive information from them.

GETTING THERE

BY AUTOMOBILE

From San Francisco Area: Take 280 south approximately 60 miles into San Jose, take the Vine Street/Almaden Avenue exit. Stay in the left lane. At bottom of ramp, go through the intersection and turn left onto Almaden Blvd. The Convention Center Parking will be on the right.

From SFO Airport: As you exit the airport, watch for signs reading 101 South (to San Jose). Proceed approximately 40 miles to highway 87 (Guadalupe Parkway) south. Go three miles to the San Carlos/Park Avenue exit. At bottom of ramp, turn left. Turn right onto Almaden Blvd. The convention center parking will be on the left.

From Oakland:Take highway 880 south 40 miles to San Jose. Go to highway 280 south. Go three miles to the Vine Street/Almaden Avenue exit. Stay in the left lane. At the bottom of ramp, go through the intersection and turn left, go two blocks.

From Santa Cruz/Los Gatos: Highway 17 north 28 miles to highway 280 south/downtown San Jose exit. Go three miles to the Vine Street/Almaden Avenue exit. Stay in the left lane and turn left onto Almaden Blvd. The convention center parking will be on the right.

From San Jose Airport: Upon exiting the airport, turn right on Guadalupe Parkway and go 2 miles. Get on freeway (87 south), proceed ½ mile to Park Avenue/San Carlos exit. At bottom of ramp, turn left. Go one block to Almaden Blvd and turn right. Go one block to San Carlos and the convention center is on the right.

BY CAL TRAIN

Costs
A one way ticket between the San Jose Diridon station and the Millbrae station is $5.00. Total trip time is about 1 ½ hours.

From San Francisco Airport
You can pick up the complimentary shuttle at the International terminal, upper/north level by United. Take the shuttle to the Millbrae station and from the Millbrae station to the San Jose Diridon station. The shuttle runs about every 30 minutes.

To San Francisco Airport
You can take the Cal Train from the San Jose Diridon station to the Millbrae station and from the Millbrae station take the complimentary shuttle to the San Francisco Airport. The shuttle waits for each train. The ride time from the San Jose Diridon station to the Millbrae station is approximately one hour and the ride time to the San Francisco Airport from the Millbrae station is about 10 minutes.

BY TAXI

Taxi service to and from San Jose Airport is twelve to fifteen dollars. Yellow Cab is at Terminal A outside of baggage claim (American, Reno, Southwest) at San Jose Airport and United Cab is station at Terminal C outside of baggage claim (all other airlines) at San Jose Airport.

BY SHUTTLE

South & East Bay Shuttle - With 24 hour notice. Make reservation by calling (408) 225-4444. $26.00 to and from San Francisco International Airport with $8.00 each additional person $14.00 to and from San Jose Airport with $6.00 each additional person

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT (LIGHT RAIL & BUS)

Light Rail Costs
Single Ride $1.10             Day Pass $2.50              Bus #10 Complimentary
Ride time on the light rail to and from the convention center station to the metro/airport station takes about 15 minutes. Ride time on bus #10 to and from the metro/airport stop to the San Jose Airport is about 5 minutes. Tickets must be purchased at the station, there is no ticket machine on the light rail.

To the San Jose Convention Center/Hilton Hotel from San Jose Airport
Terminal A: From baggage claim proceed to the second floor and walk over the street through the passage. Head right towards gates A5 - A16 and take the stairs down. Exit the building and turn left. You will see the VTA bus stop about 50 yards down.

Terminal C: Exit baggage claim and make a left. You will see the VTA bus stop about 50 yards down.

VTA Bus:
Wait for bus #10, the metro/light rail not the Santa Clara/Cal Train. Take bus #10 (metro/light rail) to the light rail station on metro and First Street (metro/airport station). Cross Metro Street, then cross over First Street (the station is kiddy corner to the bus stop) do not take the light rail that is heading northbound which is the station directly across the street from the bus stop. Take the light rail to the convention center station and cross the street.

To the San Jose Airport
Take the convention center station (Almaden and San Carlos Streets) to the metro/airport station (Metro and First Streets). Cross First Street to the VTA bus stop for the #10 bus (Airport Flyer) in front of Le Boulanger. The #10 bus will take you directly to Terminal A (American, Reno, and Southwest) and then to Terminal C (all other airlines).
