Joint Solution will Enable Canadian Utility to Automatically Archive, Manage and Secure Visual Communications Assets
El Segundo, CA (June 10, 2009) -
Accordent Technologies and TANDBERG today announced their selection by TELUS, a Canadian telecommunications services provider, to provide an integrated video conference archival, management and measurement solution as part of an outsourced visual communications network for a major Canadian utility.
A core component of the visual communications network is a joint solution from TANDBERG and Accordent that integrates the TANDBERG Content Server (TCS) – a network-integrated device that provides a streamlined, automated workflow to capture and archive streaming versions from any video conference end point – with the Accordent Media Management System (AMMS), an award-winning multimedia communications management system.
The joint Accordent and TANDBERG offering provides an automated, unified workflow within which organizations can archive video conferences and live events using TCS, detect and ingest TCS-created content into the AMMS, carry over content metadata to ensure proper categorization and searchability, and track how viewers are consuming the TCS-archived content.
“Our clients need to do more than push video across the network; they are looking for a way to extract business intelligence from their communications programs to clearly correlate the investments they have made in telepresence, video conferencing and streaming infrastructure with improvements in productivity, operational efficiency and market share,” said Rick Snyder, president, TANDBERG Americas. “This joint solution provides an unmatched ability for our clients to track and report on how their audiences – down to the individual – are absorbing online video communications and correlate that viewing with action. Together, TANDBERG and Accordent are enabling organizations to do more with less and precisely measure and report on the growing value of their visual communications initiatives.”
The joint solution will enable TELUS clients to precisely track which viewers have watched which piece of content, for how long, their workgroup or geographic origin, and how they interacted with available online polling and testing functionality. This data can then be measured and correlated with high-priority communications, training and learning goals. Additionally, the solution enables system administrators to extract network quality of service data to understand, and bypass, network chokepoints where packet loss may occur.
Accordent and TANDBERG will provide TELUS with two redundant AMMS installations that will be integrated with the client’s LDAP to secure and control content access via viewer login privileges. Additionally, the solution leverages the TCS for creating streaming archives from video conferences, the Accordent Capture StationTM for automated event capture and publishing, and Accordent PresenterPLUS TM for re-publishing video assets into the Accordent rich media format to enable viewer tracking through the AMMS.
The Accordent Rich Media Communications Suite is the only automated, end-to-end infrastructure for creating, distributing, managing and measuring the effectiveness of multimedia presentation assets. The company’s rich media creation products include its flagship Accordent PresenterPRO™ a live and on-demand webcasting solution with interactive features, such as polling, surveys and moderated Q&A; the Accordent Capture Station, an easy-to-use, room-based appliance that enables anyone to webcast and record high-value presentations that take place every day in the world's meeting rooms, classrooms and boardrooms; and Accordent Engage™, a behind-the-firewall, enhanced audio webcasting system that enables multimedia webcasting from the desktop. The company’s media management platform is the Accordent Media Management System, the first centralized online communications management infrastructure for ingesting, organizing, searching, publishing and securing multi-level access to Accordent presentations and other multimedia communications - including archived web- and video conferences.
