Enscaler Announces Seamless Inter-Operability Between MediaEnterprise and Microsoft Producer

MediaEnterprise Platform Now Offers Customers a Comprehensive Solution to Create, Secure, and Searchable Rich-Media Content using Microsoft Producer

Sunnyvale, CA (March 15, 2002) - EnScaler Inc., announced today that its MediaEnterprise platform now seamlessly inter-operates with Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2002. This inter-operability combines Microsoft Producer’s functionality for creating rich media content with the MediaEnterprise platform’s ability to provide secure and searchable rich media communications across the enterprise. Business users and media professionals can now create engaging rich-media presentations by synchronizing audio, video, slides, and images that can be managed, secured and easily accessed from a searchable repository of content. "The integration of Microsoft Producer with the security, indexing and search capabilities of MediaEnterprise make for a truly best of breed offering in the corporate streaming media space”, said Gerry Kaufhold, Principal Analyst with Cahner's In-Stat Group, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. “EnScaler's MediaEnterprise software automatically tags each rich media asset, and applies a modifiable set of policies that make it easy for content authors, department heads, and corporate IT managers to seamlessly keep track of all this new rich media content. In addition, MediaEnterprise's built-in search engines and DRM based encryption and LDAP friendly usage models act as a multimedia firewall, so only authorized users inside, or outside, the company gain access to the content and tracks who saw what, when, and where. Microsoft Producer leverages the expertise of tens of millions of corporate PowerPoint users, so we expect video and other rich media clips to become a natural extension for thousands of business presentations." MediaEnterprise is available as a comprehensive platform or managed service with ready-to-use applications that allow companies to enhance business communications across the enterprise with a single solution to publish, secure, distribute, manage, and search for rich media content. Enterprises and Service Providers can use MediaEnterprise to securely deploy applications such as internal and external training, press announcements, executive broadcasts, e-mail marketing campaigns, and etc. While applications solve the needs of the functional departments, the versatile, IT-centric design of the MediaEnterprise platform allows it to interface with virtually any existing back office system in the IT environment, such as eCDNs, authentication servers, storage devices, streaming servers, databases, and content management systems. “While being architected as the next-generation middleware platform, the core MediaEnterprise engine is an integrated 5-tier, database-driven, object model,” said Dr Jo-Yew Tham, Chief Streaming Architect, EnScaler Inc. “In addition to its rich suite of application programming interfaces that provide seamless integration points for an enterprise's existing applications and infrastructure, the XML- and SOAP-based platform is a technology enabler for constructing and deploying Web Services that orchestrate inter-enterprise business transactions.” Using the MediaEnterprise E-Service plug-in, Microsoft Producer users can easily publish rich-media presentations directly into an authenticated MediaEnterprise account for digital media management. The result is that business users and media professionals can extend rich-media presentations with a variety of ground-breaking capabilities that are harnessed into a single workflow, blending rich-media communications into the everyday desktop experience. “Until recently, creating corporate communication or training content has required specialized skills, complex authoring tools, and labor intensive tasks,” said Caesar Chu, Product Manager, EnScaler Inc. “EnScaler’s inter-operability with Microsoft Producer provides our customers with an unprecedented solution for creating secure rich media content that can be precisely accessed as text content is today.” Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2002 runs on Windows 2000 and Window XP and is available as a download for Office XP users by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/technologies /producer/default.asp. Because Microsoft Producer simplifies the content creation process for any business user, the amount and usage of digital media content within the business environment can increase significantly. MediaEnterprise automatically and intelligently extracts metadata from the presentation so that users can later find exact points of interest across multiple presentations to expedite the retrieval of content. MediaEnterprise powers secure corporate communications using Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) in concert with any accessible corporate LDAP server. Windows Media DRM can encrypt the presentation’s video content with database-driven business policies, while LDAP authentication can control searching and viewing access based on departments or users within the enterprise. More uniquely, corporations now have capabilities to retain control of highly distributed content and even sell valuable training content to resellers and customers. This offers IT administrators unparalleled flexibility to manage large assets of rich-media and maintain content control from a single point of administration. Rich-media content can even be syndicated to each department or account, where users can precisely search for content that they have permission to view, using customizable search templates. This enables enterprises to centralize the management of rich-media content, while providing access control between the various stakeholders within the corporation. “Organizations are embracing Microsoft Producer because it is meeting their critical needs, for example, the ability to cost-effectively communicate with and train employees,” said Jonathan Usher, group manager in the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corporation. “This inter-operability with EnScaler’s MediaEnterprise platform makes it easy for corporations using Microsoft Producer to manage distribute, and precisely locate secure rich media.” About EnScaler EnScaler, Inc. is a provider of carrier-class middleware platforms and 'ready-to-use' applications enabling Network Service Providers (NSPs), Content Providers and Enterprises to easily provision, secure, search, manage and monetize digital media content.
