The Business & Technology Of Online Video
November 17-19, 2009 - (Preconference Workshops: Monday, November 16)
San Jose McEnery Convention Center • San Jose, CA
Bob Donlon
SVP, GM West Coast
WRECKINGBALL Media Group

Before he took over as Senior VP and General Manager at Wreckingball’s West Coast office, Bob Donlon toured the world with his band The Rake’s Progress, played bass for Barry Manilow, opened for Cheryl Crow, and performed on Late Night With Conan O’Brien.

But Bob is a rock star in more than music. He’s also a desktop video and multimedia pioneer—instrumental in launching Next-Gen TV at Smith Barney, the first live streaming TV channel on Wall Street. He was an innovator behind revolutionary new video production tools and encoding technologies at Integrated Computing Engines and Anystream. He’s written several books on video production that have set industry standards worldwide. And he founded a successful production company in New York.

Bob brings a unique mix of creative, business, and technical skill to bear on every client project. He has a performer’s instinct for delighting the audience—and an entrepreneur’s genius for exceeding the client’s business goals. On the technical side, he knows exactly how to execute brilliant ideas—cost-efficiently and to greatest effect.

To see what that kind of multi-faceted approach can do for our clients, you don’t have to look farther than Adobe TV. Bob built Adobe’s feature-rich online video portal from scratch, transforming it from a great idea into an online property that pulls in over $10 million in yearly revenue for Adobe.

Bob negotiated over $300,000 per year in sponsorships, built the team, created and acquired the content, and oversaw the construction of a truly epic TV studio. Today, the website reaches an audience of over 2 million worldwide, in more than 38 languages. Adobe TV won two regional Emmy awards and was a runner-up for a Webby in 2010.

But what really excites him—more than technology or creative expression—is working with Wreckingball’s clients and crew. Bob thrives on collaborating with clients and team members to push the digital envelope—and building lifelong friendships along the way.
