Building on twelve years of industry leading experience in streaming media and broadcasting technologies, Matt Schmitt co-founded Reflect Systems, Inc. with the goal of creating an effective and innovative distribution platform for digital content. Incorporated in September of 2001, Reflect Systems is debuting an integrated software suite call ReflectNet which consists of content creation tools and the distribution architecture designed to meet the needs of distributed enterprise networks.
Creating and managing the Emerging Technologies Group, Matt Schmitt was responsible for creating the streaming media strategy and deployment plans for Yahoo! Broadcast's leading network infrastructure. He also evaluated new technologies designed to increase the efficiencies and cost-effectiveness of Yahoo! streaming delivery. As the leading Internet streaming provider of audio and video broadcasts for consumers and businesses, Yahoo! expanded the volume and reach of rich media programming available to its worldwide audience of 166 million unique users. Mr. Schmitt also worked closely with leading companies in the streaming media industry to influence much of the design of application software and networking technologies in use today.
Mr. Schmitt joined Audionet in May 1997 as a systems manager for streaming infrastructure. He was instrumental in transitioning the company's technology infrastructure through the IPO of Broadcast.com and assisting in the technical challenges of the subsequent merger with Yahoo! Inc.
Prior to joining Broadcast.com, Mr. Schmitt was the Operations Manager at Fox Sports Direct, the satellite division for Fox Sports broadcasting group. Mr. Schmitt's department was responsible for the Uplink Channel Control Systems for all of the Fox Sports regional networks. Mr. Schmitt worked with DirecTV, Primestar, and Dish Network to launch Fox Sports programming to consumers via satellite. Technical challenges were met to accommodate broadcasting rights and access control for the NFL, NHL, NFL, and MLB.
