Traditional server hardware is not well suited to video processing, especially when multiple high-resolution channels require manipulation. Using hardware acceleration allows a server to do more of what it is good at, and significantly reduces power, cost and footprint of high-density media solutions. Advantech's ultra-low power video encoder, decoder and transcoder platforms enable real-time HEVC encoding at up to 20x less power consumption than a software-only solution helping OEMs successfully address the challenges of 4K/8K media processing in a cost-effective manner. Advantech video processing products can provide the acceleration required to efficiently scale video processing across a wide range of applications from UHD HEVC broadcast and contribution encoding to high-density OTT video transcoding or cloud media processing. They come with a user-space SDK package supported by Advantech software engineering team that features an API and includes an FFmpeg plug-in to streamline new product development and the integration into existing applications. Advantech's proven expertise in networking and computing solutions together with wide support for IP media interfaces and promotion of interoperable solutions through the AIMS alliance enables us to lead innovation in the IP transition of the media industry and get our customers ahead of the curve.

  • VEGA-7000 Series of High-Density Video Servers
    With the growing adoption of cost-efficient IT cloud technologies within different industries, the same impetus applies to media companies and broadcasters. However, traditional server nodes are not well suited to run certain media applications, specially compute-intensive video processing ones. The VEGA-7000 is a highly configurable server that combines best video and IT practices within an optimized density, power consumption, and functionality, off-the-shelf platform that has been designed to efficiently scale throughput of high-density encoding and transcoding applications in live broadcast, OTT or cloud workflows.     Advantech’s 4K HEVC Encoder and Decoder Appliances target power and space contained scenarios such as outside broadcasting and remote contribution in live events coverage. The appliances are 1U high, less than 270mm deep, and two can fit side by side in a standard 19" rack.

  • VEGA-3000 Series of IP Media Interface Cards
    The broadcast and media industry are moving to an all-IP future, driven both UltraHD and the universal flexibility that comes from an IP based infrastructure. IP differs from media-specific Serial Digital Interface (SDI) in many inherent aspects. Accurate synchronization, high availability or low latency are some of the video-critical features that need to be reproduced in the best-effort, connectionless IP world so as to guarantee media integrity.   • VEGA-2000 Series of HD/UHD HEVC Encoder & Streaming Modules
    The benefits of bandwidth reduction and quality enhancement of HEVC are especially welcome for wireless streaming interfaces where bandwidth is often limited. However, what is not welcome is any additional power consumption associated with the enhanced encoding – leading to increased heat and a reduction in battery life. The Advantech VEGA-2000 Series of HEVC Encoder Modules are UHD and FullHD capable video streaming solutions in a small lightweight form-factor using the latest ARM-based video processing engine. VEGA-2000 connects directly to a video source via SDI or HDMI, and allows live video or local files to be encoded and transmitted via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi to a broadcast station or uploaded to a server-based cloud environment. Measuring only 90mm by 100mm, the modules still pack in SDI and HDMI interfaces for video capture, an SD Card slot for local file storage, and streaming outputs via Ethernet or using a USB dongle.
