Telestream And The NewsMarket Deliver New Product Video From The North American International Auto Show

Broadcast-standard video instantly available via the Internet to newsrooms around the world
Nevada City, CA(1/10/2003) -

Telestream, the world leader in broadcast media encoding and delivery solutions, today announced that its products were used by The NewsMarket (www.thenewsmarket.com) to encode and deliver the latest product video for major automobile companies at this week?s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The NewsMarket is an on-demand platform for broadcasters and content providers to exchange broadcast-standard news content via the Internet. Telestream technology simplifies the process of capturing and moving high-quality video and audio over IP networks.

"Telestream technology allowed The NewsMarket to make broadcast-standard video from the auto show instantly available in newsrooms around the world,? said Shoba Purushothaman, CEO and Founder of The NewsMarket. "Telestream creates digital video files in multiple broadcast-standard formats, which allows us to deliver directly to the various editing machines present in the newsrooms. This technology provides The NewsMarket with a very cost effective and efficient process with which to deliver video for our clients, such as DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and Rolls Royce, into the newsrooms."

At this week?s Auto Show The NewsMarket used Telestream?s ClipMail Pro to capture and encode video content into broadcast-standard MPEG formats. The footage was then automatically converted into Windows Media format using Telestream?s FlipFactory transcoding application and delivered to The NewsMarket?s New York operations center for final distribution to newsrooms around the world.

The NewsMarket has built an interactive online news exchange where stories, such as the automakers? video, can be searched, browsed, and downloaded in full broadcast quality over a broadband Internet connection. In addition to breaking news stories, The NewsMarket offers a comprehensive archive of stock-shots and corporate and public relations materials, which are available free-of-charge to registered media users.

The North American Auto Show is considered to be one of the most prestigious auto shows in the world and is one of the largest media events in North America. This show marks the latest in a series of major news events in which The NewsMarket has utilized Telestream technology for contribution and distribution of broadcast-standard news footage. The two companies formed a strategic alliance in November 2000, following successful digital delivery from the Sydney Olympic Games.

The North American International Auto Show opened January 5 for three Press Days followed by Industry Preview Days running through January 9 and Charity Preview Day on January 10. The show is open to the public from January 11-20, 2003.
