StreamOne Teams up with LiftIgniter for AI Personalized Recommendations and Ads

Introduction

Last year, worldwide online ad revenue grew to record highs, but 99% of this growth1 went to just two companies, Google and Facebook. It is time other publishers get the tools to be able to profit from this growth as well.

StreamOne has joined forces with the Machine Learning experts at LiftIgniter to even the playing field by offering the same technologies that enable Google and Facebook’s quick growth.

Machine Learning

Google and Facebook have attributed much of their success to Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). They used ML to increase engagement by showing the perfect content recommendation, personalized for each single user, even for cold-start users while at the same time increasing ad frequency, relevancy and user experience.

StreamOne together with LiftIgniter launched a range of Machine Learning oriented services that are designed to increase engagement across the board, and to jump start growth.

Smart Recommendations

Content discovery and recommendations play a pivotal part in keeping users engaged. Often, recommendations are made entirely based on related content or tags instead of the content that is actually interesting and relevant to a specific user.

StreamOne, together with LiftIgniter, enables effective Machine Learning capabilities available to customers through their joint new product: Discover AI.

This product makes sure that users, after completing a video, automatically receive the best next content recommendations or autoplay into the best next video. This is based on the publisher's content inventory, the metadata stored therein, and hundreds of user signals, data crosses, and proprietary information that is analyzed in real-time by LiftIgniter's machine learning. This works even for unknown “cold start” users. Smart Video Recommendations averages 80% improvements in video engagement – a/b tested and proven.

These recommendations will automatically be added within the video player. Right now, they are available out-of-the-box with StreamOne and LiftIgniter's Smart Video Recommendations.

Smart Ad AI

In April this year at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, StreamOne presented its True Server-Side Ad Insertion solution as a part of their Smart Ads suite.

Right now, together with LiftIgniter, StreamOne presents Smart Ad AI. This product decides whether or not to show a (preroll) advertisement to a specific user, based on content and user (meta)data, completely personalizing the user experience, resulting in higher engagement thanks to a better user experience.

By combining LiftIgniter's machine learning platform with StreamOne's video platform, a number of important extra data points are gathered in order to maximize the effect of the machine learning algorithm. The service can be used with all types of categories and is available with both client and server-side ad insertion.
