Sonic Foundry Partners with EDUCAUSE to Webcast Premier Conference for Higher Education IT Professionals

Mediasite to stream over 50 sessions for live and on-demand viewing for eighth consecutive year.

Madison, Wisconsin(06 Nov 2012)

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for video management and academic, enterprise and event webcasting, today announced the company’s Mediasite platform will be used to webcast the EDUCAUSE 2012 Annual Conference this week at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colo.

EDUCAUSE has streamed sessions on-demand via Mediasite since 2005 and this is the fourth consecutive year conference organizers have engaged audiences with a hybrid event, delivering both online and face-to-face experiences. From their desktops or mobile devices, about 400 distributed attendees from 217 campuses and 14 countries will join in-person participants in Denver to engage in common conference sessions. The EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, which takes place Nov. 6 to 9, is the premier gathering for higher education IT professionals providing content that explores today’s toughest technology issues facing higher education–nationally and internationally.

Distributed attendees will have access to webcasts from the face-to-face meeting including more than 50 general, featured and themed concurrent sessions streamed via Mediasite. They will also participate in exclusive interactive discussions with experts on current topics, access a virtual convention center offering active networking features, and guide their virtual experience with an Event Planning Kit designed to facilitate on-site discussion amongst groups of colleagues participating from one remote location.

“Streaming live and on-demand sessions is a great resource for members unable to attend the on-site event, or who prefer to create an interactive on-campus event. They can participate from anywhere – office, home, or any location with a mobile device – which allows more people to access the content and connect with colleagues. We are pleased to continue our eight-year partnership with Sonic Foundry for our hybrid events,” said Julie Little, Vice President, EDUCAUSE.

The online conference is available on the EDUCAUSE conference website at http://www.educause.edu/annual-conference/online-conference. EDUCAUSE is offering public access to select keynote and all featured session streams. Plus, on-site attendees will be able to view live HD streams of conference sessions on iPads and other mobile devices at Sonic Foundry booth #1433.

Sean Brown, vice president of education at Sonic Foundry will present “Sonic Foundry’s Roadmap for 2013 and Beyond” at 9:10 a.m. MT Nov. 8 in meeting room 301/302, Colorado Convention Center.

An EDUCAUSE webcasting partner since 2005, Mediasite is trusted by 1,100 colleges and universities.
